When sandblasting is performed

Metal sandblasting is generally carried out before painting and powder and cataphoresis treatments. The sandblasting process makes it possible to remove all kinds of impurities, paints, corrosive slag, calcifications of rust, oxides or other residues that could cause problems in subsequent phases using very fine sand mixed with compressed air blasted at high speed and pressure.

How sandblasting is done

Sandblasting gives treated products that 'just made' look. With this treatment, it is possible to remove blemishes caused by oxidation and atmospheric agents.
The sandblasting process is carried out using very fine grit consisting of inert, irregular and angular masses, such as quartz grit and metal abrasives.
The size, shape and type of grit used depends on the material to be treated. The harder the surface to be treated, the larger the size of abrasive to be used for the process; increasing the size of the grit increases the impact of the abrasive on the surface to be treated.

Sandblasting machines

Euroforesi has two plants for sandblasting metals at its headquarters in Luzzara:
  • A cluster, ideal for small and medium-sized solutions. The products undergo grit sandblasting,  thrown by fixed turbines that cover the entire surface. This plant can process components that have dimensions up to approximately 2500x2800x1500 mm.
  • One by passage, which works with turbines that fire the shot as the product proceeds through. This plant can process bulky items up to approximately 6000x2000x1000 mm.
